Dr. Megan L. Swonke is a Otolaryngology–Head & Neck surgeon (ENT) with a specialized fellowship in facial plastic surgery, giving her a uniquely comprehensive understanding of the complex anatomy of the face and neck. She was hand-selected to join Heights Plastic Surgery based on her exceptional training, technical skill, and commitment to facial aesthetics. Joining Heights Plastic Surgery is a return home to the community she knows best.
By focusing her practice exclusively on the face and neck, Dr. Swonke brings a refined, anatomy-driven approach to both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Her addition further strengthens Heights Plastic Surgery’s dedication to excellence and allows us to continue expanding our advanced facial aesthetic services with the highest level of precision and artistry.
Distinguished Training & Academic Excellence
Dr. Megan Swonke is a fellowship-trained facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon whose career has been dedicated exclusively to the complex anatomy of the face and neck. Her path reflects exceptional academic achievement, rigorous surgical training, and a deliberate commitment to mastery within facial aesthetics.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University before earning her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), where she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society—an honor reserved for physicians demonstrating the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, and professionalism.
Dr. Swonke completed her residency training in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at UTMB, where she distinguished herself as both a clinician and educator. During residency, she was recognized with the Paul Brindley Resident Teaching Award and contributed to multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications, reflecting her academic rigor and commitment to advancing the field.
Recognizing that true expertise in facial aesthetics requires advanced subspecialty training, Dr. Swonke pursued an additional year of fellowship training through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) at the University of Kansas—one of the most selective and respected facial plastic surgery fellowships in the country. This fellowship is dedicated exclusively to aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck, allowing her to refine advanced techniques under the mentorship of nationally recognized leaders in facial plastic surgery.
Her training provides a uniquely comprehensive understanding of facial anatomy, function, and aesthetics—an expertise that distinguishes her approach and outcomes.
Dr. Swonke’s philosophy centers on balance, precision, and authenticity. Her goal is not transformation for its own sake, but the restoration and enhancement of facial harmony—allowing patients to look refreshed, confident, and naturally themselves.
Her practice is defined by meticulous attention to detail and an appreciation for both the structural and artistic elements of facial rejuvenation. Patients appreciate her thoughtful, collaborative approach to consultation, where listening and education are prioritized, and treatment plans are carefully tailored to each individual’s anatomy and goals.
As a female surgeon, Dr. Swonke brings an added sensitivity and perspective to aesthetic care—particularly in understanding the emotional and personal nature of facial procedures—while maintaining the highest standards of surgical excellence and professionalism.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Swonke to Heights Plastic Surgery. She joins our practice with exceptional credentials, advanced subspecialty training in facial plastic surgery, and a clear alignment with our commitment to excellence, integrity, and refined aesthetic care.
Her addition allows Heights Plastic Surgery to further elevate and expand its facial aesthetic services, offering patients access to a surgeon whose career has been devoted to the artistry and science of facial plastic surgery.
Her areas of focus include:
Dr. Swonke has a background in ceramics. It’s a tactile hobby that demands the same steady hand and eye for shape that she uses in surgery. When she isn’t working with clay or patients, she is usually outdoors. She plays pickleball, hikes national parks, and explores the Houston food scene. Most of her free time is spent with her husband—a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon—and their new puppy.
Dr. Swonke is currently accepting new patients. If you are looking for a surgeon who is technically precise but easy to talk to, we’d love to introduce you.
